When you look at it marketing, it can seem like it’s built on flashy strategies, bold promises, a sense of urgency and perfectly timed campaigns. And while there’s nothing wrong with structure or strategy, if you’re a heart-led business owner like myself, you might find yourself asking…
“Why doI feel so disconnected from this?”
If you’ve ever felt like you’re performing rather than connecting, you’re not alone. The truth is: the most powerful marketing doesn’t come from clever hooks or manipulative tactics. It comes from something much simpler—a genuine conversation.
From broadcasting to creating conversations
Traditional marketing often sounds like a megaphone: “Look at me! Buy this! Hurry before time runs out!” But a heart-led business isn’t looking for transactions. It’s looking to create relationships.
And relationships start with a conversation, and an easy place to start to make them feel seen, heard and understood is:
“What’s going on for you right now?”
When you shift your mindset from “How do I sell this?” to “How can I serve or support someone today?” your tone and energy changes and as a result, your audience feels the difference.
Conversations build trust
In real life, relationships deepen through two-way dialogue, not monologues. So when your marketing creates an opportunity to have an exchange, whether that’s through your emails, social media posts, in-person networking or discovery call, you’re inviting people to step into your world at their own pace, on their own terms.
People don’t want to be sold to, they want to be seen and they don’t want hype, they want honesty. So when you show up as curious, open, and aligned, your clients feel it and they lean in. They get curious themselves because you’ve sparked something in them that resonates.
Energetic marketing in action
At the heart of my ENERGY framework is Essence—who you really are, beneath the noise and the ‘shoulds.’ When your marketing flows from that place, it becomes magnetic.
That doesn’t mean winging it. It means being intentional and intuitive.
It means asking:
- What do my people need to hear today?
- Where are they stuck?
- How can I offer clarity, encouragement, or even just a gentle nudge?
What does a marketing conversation look like?
It might look like:
- A story that makes someone say, “That’s exactly how I feel.”
- A thoughtful post that sparks a reply, not just a like.
- A voice note or video that feels more like a friend reaching out than a sales pitch.
And it might sound like:
- “Here’s something I’ve been thinking about lately…”
- “Have you ever felt like this?”
- “What’s holding you back right now?”
The most important thing to know is that it’s the energy behind the messages that count. Consciously asking yourself, ‘Is this me?’ and ‘Does this align with my values?’ really makes a difference to how people receive you and whether they resonate with what you’re doing. You can’t BS that stuff….well, you can, but people will see through it!
You’re allowed to do it differently
If traditional marketing makes you shrink, second-guess, or disconnect from your own voice then just know, there is another way. YOUR way.
One rooted in truth, not tactics.
One that prioritises resonance over reach.
One that’s focused on service, not selling
One where every post, email, or offer is an invitation to have a conversation.
Because the best marketing doesn’t talk at people.
It talks with them.
And when you lead with your heart, your people feel it.
